About the laboratory:

The Laboratory of Social Psychology of Personality was created in 1994.

Since then, the scientific team under the leadership of Tetyana M. Tytarenko developed fundamental scientific research topics regarding the mechanisms of harmonization of personal development, methods of psychological assistance, socio-psychological prerequisites and determinants of personal choice, life pursuits, tasks and practices of self-realization and personal life construction, socio-psychological rehabilitation and support of war victims (for more details, see the “Topics of scientific research”).

On the basis of the laboratory, the following applied researches were carried out: “Scientific and methodological principles of selection, prognostic assessment of effectiveness, systematization and application of the prevention means in drug addiction and HIV/AIDS among minors and youth” for the implementation of the national program “Children of Ukraine” (principal investigatior – Borys Lazorenko); “Research of social attitudes of young people regarding a healthy lifestyle” for the implementation of the national program “Health of the Nation” (principal investigatior – Tetiana Tytarenko); “Prevention of violations of the socio-psychological adaptation of young people and their parents to acute and chronic stress” for the implementation of the interdisciplinary complex program “Health of the Nation” (principal investigatior – Tetiana Tytarenko); “Socio-psychological prevention of disorders of adaptation of young people to everyday stresses and crisis life situations” for implementation of the interdisciplinary complex program “Health of the Nation” (principal investigatior – Tetiana Tytarenko); “Scientific-methodological principles of socio-psychological assistance to the family” for the implementation of the interdisciplinary comprehensive program “Health of the Nation” (principal investigatior – Olha Kliapets).

Since 2019, the Head of the Laboratory has been Maryna S. Dvornyk; since 2022, the laboratory team under her leadership has been working on the fundamental topic “Socio-psychological strategies for the formation of a healthy lifestyle in the face of social instability” (2022-2024). The purpose of the work is a development of socio-psychological strategies of forming a healthy lifestyle which are resistant to social instability.

The laboratory supervises the Ph.D. students and D.Sc. students. During the existence of the laboratory, more than 30 dissertations were prepared and defended in the specialties 19.00.05 – social psychology, psychology of social work, and 19.00.01 – general psychology, history of psychology.

At the initiative of the laboratory, agreements on cooperation between the Institute and educational institutions were concluded:

– Chernihiv National Technological University;

– Institute of Mental Health of the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv);

– Department of Psychology, Faculty of Psychology and Social Work, Mykola Gogol Nizhyn State University;

– the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Social Work of Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University;

– Department of Psychology and Social Work of Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University named after Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyy”.

Employees of the laboratory maintain relations with public organizations and take a direct part in their activities. These include the All-Ukrainian charitable organization “Time of Life Plus,” All-Ukrainian Charitable Organization “All-Ukrainian Network of PLHIV,” Charitable Organization “Help Life,” Association of Organizations and Initiatives of Positive Men of Ukraine, public organizations “Ukrainian Union of Psychotherapists, ” “Art Therapy Association,” “Association of Gestalt Trainers of Ukraine”, Ukrainian Center in Barcelona of the Ukrainian Association “Dzherelo” and others.
